The great Games are over - Thank you!

The international JeSET 2012 Championship of European Jesuit Schools ended with a celebratory mass in St Blasien Dome. Immediately afterwards, the return journeys, throughout Europe and in all directions of the compass, began. We wish everyone a good homewards journey and would like to warmly and sincerely thank all pupils, accompanying adults, guests, sports fans, supporters, sponsors, cake bakers, sport teachers, doctors, house masters and mistresses, the kitchen and, last but certainly not least, the groundsmen and housemen who have made this week possible.

It was a wonderful sports meeting and a very special event here in St Blasien – Thank you very much!

Awards Ceremony

The awards ceremony follows directly after the various, wonderful excursions in the regions on Saturday afternoon. The ceremony were presented by Mrs. Marie-Thérèse Michel, Director of JECSE, and Fr. Klaus Mertes SJ, Director of Kolleg St. Blasien. The School Ranking was won by Claver (957 points), St. Blasien (838 points) achieved 2nd place und Kaunas (721 points) 3rd place in the JeSET Sports Festival 2012. In the category Boys won Claver (486) as well and St. Blasien (471) also achieved 2nd place and Kaunas (367) 3rd place. In the category Girls won the female team of Claver (471), beating Torino (410) and St. Blasien (367). Congratulations all teams who has successfully taken part in the JeSET Sports Festival 2012! The final stages of the sports events were successfully completed

On Friday, the final stages of the sports events for JeSET 2012 were successfully completed with boys' basketball and girls' football. The boys' basketball tournament was won by the school from Miskolc, beating the Vilnius team and the girls' football tournament was won by Palermo. A further highlight will be Saturday when a 'Black Forest Day' is planned and Kolleg St Blasion can invite its guests to take part in various, wonderful excursions in the region. Pupils can visit the ski museum and ski jump in Hinterzarten, the Schauinsland Mining Museum and the Todnau waterfall; guided by rangers, discover Feldberg; go hiking in the Wutachschlucht or enjoy the peace of Schluchsee.

The third, successful day of competition

The third, successful day of competition was rounded-off on Thursday evening with the classic German film: "Run Lola Run" in Kolleg's own film room. The whole-day boys' volleyball tournament was won by the school from Vilnius, beating the Aalst team. In the morning, the team from Aalst came in front of Dresden and Torino at the girls' swimming event, held at the Kolleg swimming pool. In the afternoon, the team from Dresden won the girls' longjump, with Kaunas and Claver being runners-up. Also, St Blasien were able to win the girls' running, in front of Dresden and Turin. The day's competition was completed with the cross-country race for girls in the hilly woods around St Blasien. We congratulate all athletes and wish them further success in the JeSET championship.

Wonderful Atmosphere

Today the popular boys' football tournament took place on the grass pitch, with pefect weather conditions. Hours of sunshine made for a wonderful atmosphere and performances with a wealth of goals around the sportsground. There was also a great atmosphere at the girls' basketball tournament in the sports hall, with exciting matches played at a very high level. See on the Gallery to gain impressions of the second day. The young athletes from across Europe can enjoy this evening as they wish, while recuperating in beautiful Bernau, known for its pure air. Today's results will be posted later on the website.

Great Competition has begun

After the day's assembly, the first competitive day of the international championship for European Jesuit schools began with volleyball and swimming. The program for this afternoon is athletics. The initial results of today's events can be found this evening on our website, under 'Results'. This great European coming together will be rounded-off today with an international folk evening. International Sports Festival Opened

On Monday evening, after the participating teams had registered, the Jesuit schools international sports championship was opened at a ceremony in the Pater Delp Hall. Pupils from across Europe were welcomed by Pater Mertes, Director of Kolleg, and Mr Fritz, Mayor of St Blasien. The 21 teams from 10 nations each presented themselves to the others so that they could get to know each other better. The tournament begins on Tuesday with the disciplines of volleyball, swimming, long jump, sprint and cross country. Europäische Meisterschaft der Jesuiten-Schulen

Vom 2. bis 8. Juli findet am Kolleg JeSET 2012 (Jesuit Schools European Sports Tournament) die internationale Meisterschaft der Jesuiten-Schulen in Europa statt. Damit ist erstmals ein deutsches Jesuitengymnasium Gastgeber dieses seit 2006 ausgetragenen Wettbewerbs. Erwartet werden rund 400 sportbegeisterte Jugendliche aus 22 Jesuitenschulen in Ägypten, Belgien, Dänemark, Deutschland, Irland, Italien, Kroatien, Litauen, Spanien und Ungarn. Die Sportwettkämpfe finden in sechs Disziplinen statt: Basketball, Cross Country (Geländelauf), Fußball, Leichtathletik, Schwimmen und Volleyball. Pater Klaus Mertes SJ, Direktor des Kollegs: „Ziel dieses Sportfestes JeSET 2012 ist es, dass Schülerinnen und Schüler die Gelegenheit bekommen, einander kennen zu lernen und zu erfahren, wie ähnlich und doch verschieden sie unter dem gemeinsamen Dach jesuitischer Pädagogik sind. Sie können in diesen Tagen etwas spüren von der Ignatianischen Spiritualität, die sie verbindet. Und sie sollen sich den sportlichen Herausforderung stellen im Geist des Fairplay und als Team. Nicht zuletzt haben unsere Gäste Gelegenheit, die wunderbare Region Schwarzwald kennen zu lernen.“ Neben dem sportlichen Teil bietet diese einmalige Großveranstaltung auch ein vielseitiges Rahmenprogramm. Der Höhepunkt ist neben der Auftaktveranstaltung und der Siegerehrung der große Schwarzwald-Tag mit attraktiven Exkursionen in die Region. Dann werden die ausländischen Schülerinnen und Schüler das Skimuseum und die Skischanze in Hinterzarten besichtigen, das Schauinsland-Museumsbergwerk und die Todtnauer Wasserfälle kennenlernen, den Feldberg mit Rangern erkunden, durch die Wutachschlucht wandern oder am Schluchsee die Ruhe genießen.

Welcome to JeSET 2012

Some 400 young sports enthusiasts of 22 Jesuit schools from 10 different nations will celebrate the international sport festival JeSET 2012, taking place from 2. – 8. July at the Kolleg, and will be part of an athletic and cultural diversity. Sport connects the youth in Europe, which is why the Kolleg focuses on positive values and aspects in sport such as team spirit, fair play, responsibility and health.
